Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymīn [رحمه الله] said:
❝…Know that when you deal and interact with your wife then it is mandatory that you think of a [scenario] where a man is the husband of your daughter. How does he treat her? Would you be pleased for him to treat her with harshness and sternness? The answer is no. Therefore, do not be content with treating the daughter of another person in a fashion that you would not be pleased for your daughter to be treated. This principle should be known by all people.❞
[Ash-Sharh Al-Mumti’, (12/381) | Translated By Hasan al-Sūmali]
المراة إذا تزوجت كان زوجها أملك بها من أبويها، وطاعة زوجها عليها
“When a woman marries, her husband has more right to her obidence than her parents”
– Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله
Imam mubarakfuri رحمة الله عليه writes in explanation of the hadeeth (which can be seen in the picture):
لأن كمال الإيمان يوجب حسن الخلق و الإحسان إلى كافة الناس
و خياركم خياركم لنسائهم لأنهن محل الرحمة لضعفهن
(The) completion of imaan necessitates good behaviour and excellence towards all of mankind
(And in particular women) because they are in a position of needing mercy and kindness due to their fragility.
Love doesn’t keep a score of wrongs. Love doesn’t bring up the past failures, for nobody is perfect.
And that is why Allah سبحانه و تعالى loves to forgive and the life of the one He سبحانه و تعالى loved most (Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) was predominantly about forgiveness.
